Job Description

Job Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) assesses, diagnoses, and treats individuals with speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders. The SLP works with patients across the lifespan to improve communication skills, cognitive-linguistic abilities, and overall quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment results
  • Provide therapy services for articulation, language, fluency, voice, and social communication
  • Collaborate with families, teachers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
  • Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and treatment plans
  • Educate patients and caregivers on strategies to support communication goals
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust therapy plans as needed
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings (school settings)
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards, state regulations, and facility policies

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA (preferred or required)
  • Experience with pediatric, adult, or geriatric populations (depending on setting)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Physical & Cognitive Demands

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Capacity to manage multiple caseloads and meet deadlines
  • Occasional lifting or positioning of patients
