About the job

Plans, schedules, and coordinates the fabrication of products for delivery to facilities and customers. Manages the shop and employees. Maintains accurate inventory records and performs other administrative functions as needed to satisfy branches and end customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Verifies and replenishes individual branch inventory levels utilizing provided software.
  • Determines daily production needs and establishes production schedules to meet branch requirements. Distributes copies of schedules to appropriate operating personnel.
  • Reports receipt of damaged, defective, and/or otherwise unacceptable material to appropriate Buyer and Mill.
  • Oversees all production data is entered into Work Order software.
  • Receives and responds appropriately to all phone calls from Branch and Corporate personnel.
  • Receives, schedules, and coordinates all special requests to satisfy customer needs and increase overall revenue.
  • Oversees sending and returning emails to customers, (i.e. delivery dates)
  • Assists Branch Manager in performing cycle counts when requested.
  • Understands all produced and stocked inventories.
  • Complies with all Company safety practices and procedures.
  • Provides general support to customers.
  • Assists in shop as needed.
  • Uphold and maintain company safety standards.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTIES

Directly supervises shop employees. Will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employee; planning, assigning, and directing work; Managing shop employees through Ultipro (time, requests, write up’s etc.); appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Holds all safety meetings as required by the organization.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be eligible to complete certification and be licensed to operate forklift and regularly keep up to date with any changes in the requirements.

  • Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and coaching ability.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.
  • Ability to step into any position within the warehouse department if needed.
  • Ability to interpret operational data.
  • Familiarity with inventory control.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Understanding of OSHA and other safety regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to communicate well with others and maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in a high energy, fast paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency.
