Title: Construction Cost Engineer

Location: Gilbert, AZ (Southeast Phoenix Metro Area)

Duration: 6-month contract (possibility for extension or conversion)

Pay Rate: $50–$55.55/hr

Job Description:

We are seeking a Construction Cost Engineer to support the construction and commissioning of a large, high-tech industrial manufacturing project in the Southeast Phoenix metro area. This role will report to the Cost Manager and work closely with Construction Managers to ensure accurate cost controls and effective change management processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and process change orders and RFIs to ensure scope accuracy.
• Perform detailed breakouts for material, labor, equipment, and profit.
• Assign cost codes, confirm budget impacts, and prepare changes for internal approval.
• Utilize project management tools such as Procore and Smartsheets for cost tracking and reporting.
• Collaborate with clients and subcontractors to confirm information accuracy and respond to requests.

This is a contract position with potential for extension or conversion based on performance and project needs.

Qualifications:

Required Skills & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of experience on large industrial construction projects (e.g., data centers, semiconductor fabs, battery plants) with budgets ranging from $100M to $1B+.
• Strong knowledge of construction cost controls, including:
• Job cost reports
• Change management
• RFIs
• Budgets and commitments
• Contingencies and spend tracking
• Bid packages and field orders
• Category management
• Cost authorization packages
• Material quantity reporting
• Proficiency with construction PM software such as Procore and Smartsheets .

Nice to Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• LEED Certification.
