About the role

As an RD&A Scientist within the Beverage Systems & Brands Team, you will lead the development and optimization of innovative beverage solutions—including smoothies, syrups, sauces, and powdered/agglomerated mixes—that align with customer needs, market trends, and Kerry’s strategic goals. You will collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, regulatory, marketing and operations teams to deliver impactful products that support Kerry’s Taste & Nutrition business.

You will also lead R&D development of new products in Kerry’s branded beverage portfolio, including DaVinci Gourmet, Island Oasis, Big Train, and Oregon Chai.

Key responsibilities

• Product Development & Innovation

• Lead and support end-to-end product development from concept through commercialization.

• Conduct bench-top formulation, pilot plant trials, and production scale-up activities.

• Match competitive products and optimize formulations for performance and cost.

• Research & Technical Execution

• Conduct research on new ingredients, technologies, and processing methods.

• Improve taste, texture, shelf life, and nutritional profile using food science knowledge.

• Work in the pilot plant and support production scale-ups and commercialization.

• Customer Engagement & Collaboration

• Field internal and external customer requests from ideation through troubleshooting.

• Co-create tailored solutions with customers and internal stakeholders.

• Document and present technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Compliance & Quality

• Ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory, and labeling requirements.

• Stay current with industry trends, ingredients, and technologies relevant to beverage systems.

• Travel

• Travel to Kerry production plants, co-manufacturers, and customer engagements as needed.

Qualifications and skills

• BS/MS/PhD in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemistry or a related scientific field.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in product development.

• Strong knowledge of food chemistry, sensory science, microbiology, and quality.

• Problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and attention to detail

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively as part of a team.

• Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize competing demands.

The typical hiring range for this role is $75,602 to $123,432 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
