Role Description
We are seeking a talented and innovative Product Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design of tooling and related equipment used in the production of multi-layer ceramic packages.
Essential Functions:
* Interfaces with Product Engineer and/or Sales to establish parameters to be used in the design of tooling.
* Receives product data from customer and/or Sales.
* Applies documented design guidelines to establish manufacturable product design.
* Identifies areas in violation of design guidelines and resolves with Product Engineer.
* Applies differential shrinkage factors to establish green part sizes.
* Designs all tooling required to manufacture part.
* Attends product design reviews.
* Converts tooling data (cad format) to photo-plotter data.
* Interfaces with Photo-fabrication Group to insure correct transfer of data.
* Creates annotated cad drawings as required.
* Creates documentation package as required by Document Control Group.
* Thoroughly documents all related design activity.
* Completes tooling design package on a timely basis according to assigned schedule.
* Implements tooling revisions as required in support of manufacturing.
* Creates proposal drawings as required by Sales Group in pursuit of new product orders.
* Works as a team with others to coordinate production, quality, and productivity goals between departments to meet company objectives.
* Assists others through cross-training, flexibility and multitasking capabilities.
* Must maintain acceptable level of performance.
Other Responsibilities:
* Knows and follows all safety requirements.
* Complies with company policies and procedures.
* Assists other designers as needed.
* Effectively gives and receives feedback; willingly asks questions and seeks direction, as needed.
* Performs other design duties as assigned.
* May work any and all shifts/days, including overtime, as required.
* Must be able to function within a team environment.
* Maintains acceptable level of cleanliness in the work area.
Education, Training, and Skill Recommendations/Requirements:
* High language skills.
* High math skills.
* High attention to detail.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Proficient in use of personal computer.
* Prefers Windows 10, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
* Prefers AutoCAD® and Inventor (2018 or newer) experience in a production environment.
* Prefers knowledge of photo-plotting techniques and generation of Gerber data files.
* Requires the ability to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks.
* Prefers an Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, or in a related discipline or 2 years of related work experience.
* Prefers experience in design of electronic packaging (i.e. multi-layer ceramics, pc boards, hybrids, multi-chip modules).
