Job Description

For the past 26 years, Schnitzer Properties has been fortunate to have a dedicated photographer and videographer capturing our business, art, and philanthropic events. We are now seeking a talented individual to carry this work forward—someone with strong skills in both photography and videography, and with an interest in helping manage portions of our family archives.

The Photographer and Videographer for the Marketing Department is a combined role including image and video production, digital asset management and project management. Time estimation breaks down as follows – 60% Production tasks, 30% Digital Asset Management, 10% project management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS:

  • Documenting our properties, art exhibitions, and philanthropic events.
  • Producing high-quality videos and photos for our website and communications.
  • Creating publication-ready images of artworks in our family collection.

Production Tasks

  • Capture and edit property photos and videos, including drone footage.
  • Capture and edit photos and videos of events with urgent turnaround times.
  • Produce tenant spotlight and other storytelling videos.
  • Produce other videos as needed.
  • Photoshop specialized property renderings.
  • Produce PowerPoint presentations for President.
  • Maintain camera equipment.
  • Work with designer to create motion graphics.

Digital Asset Management Tasks

  • Provide digital assets as needed for company clients (Finance, Brokers, Property Management, Art Department).
  • Provide photos and videos for PR and Press.
  • Provide photos for ads.
  • Arrange for image capture from outside sources as needed.
  • Store incoming images from other sources to maintain accessibility for others.
  • Organize images in an understandable, accessible schema, or keyword-based CMS.

Project Management Tasks

  • Provide assets to President’s staff.
  • Website updates as needed.
  • Purchase equipment and supplies.
  • Other tasks as needed.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ photography and videography experience.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines.
  • Experience with video and imaging production.
  • Photography skills with DSLR and Mirrorless cameras are a necessity.
  • FAA part 107 UAS certification for commercial drone operations a plus but not required.
  • Ability to take initiative, analyze situations, and conceptualize to solve problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and a good attitude.
  • Effectively manage projects with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must possess video editing skills in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or Final Cut Pro or other current software.
  • Must possess title and animation skills in Adobe After Effects and/or Apple Motion.
  • Must possess knowledge of document authoring, distribution, archiving and retrieval.
  • Must possess understanding of audio capture and processing to aid video production.
  • Flexibility with work schedule.
  • Involvement in ongoing education to keep up with industry developments.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications or related field preferred.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE REQUIRED:

  • Valid Driver License and registered automobile.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travel to local or distant events per company President, occasional travel to regional offices as needed.

The position is based in Portland, Oregon, with occasional travel (typically no more than two days at a time) to West Coast project sites for construction and real estate photography.
