Job Description The Lead Laundry Room Attendant in this position is responsible for providing superior service to both the internal and external customer. The Lead Laundry Room Attendant is also responsible for monitoring and maintaining laundry production on assigned shift, ensuring achievement of optimum production levels as established by Housekeeping Supervisor.
The Lead Laundry Room Attendant - Is responsible for training laundry/dry cleaning staff according to safety standards.
- Provides superior customer service, positively effects interactions with customers and employees, and has the resiliency to deal with difficult customers in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers.
- Responsible for the quality and quantity of work, ensuring par levels are met.
- Trains Laundry Attendants, ensuring proper usage and operation of equipment, and proper usage, handling and disposal of all necessary chemicals according to safety standards.
- Monitors all equipment to ensure equipment is operating in a safe and efficient manner; reports any discrepancies to Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Performs duties of Laundry Attendant.
- Assists with coaching and progressive disciplinary actions.
- Performs annual evaluations on Laundry Attendants.
- Prepares schedules and completes all payroll duties.
Qualifications - This position operates in a working environment that is subject to varying levels of wet/humid conditions, heat and noise, the severity of which depends upon work volume. Incumbents are at times subjected to hazards such as chemicals. Proper precautions are taken.
- Ability to operate all laundry/dry cleaning equipment which includes tunnel washer, conventional washers and dryers, dry cleaner, steam tunnel spotting board, finishing presses, flatwork, ironer and small piece folder.
- Ability to inspect dry cleaning and laundry items and equipment, maintain inventory control and perform all associated recordkeeping.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently move around laundry area.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, and push/pull loads of up to 100 pounds, so as to be able to load, wash and store laundry items.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and supervisor.
- Ability to operate tunnel washers, conventional washers and dryers, dry cleaner, steam tunnel spotting board, finishing presses, flatwork, ironer and small piece folder equipment.
- Familiarity with tunnel washer operation preferred.
- Knowledge of all chemicals used in laundry/dry cleaning facilities, including handling and disposal.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
The skills necessary of this position are typically acquired through one-year laundry/dry cleaning experience.
