Data Center Technician (Dallas, TX)

Optomi, in partnership with a global leader in wireless, broadband and automotive communications technologies company, is seeking an experienced and highly dependable Data Center Cabling Technician to support operations at high-priority data centers. The ideal candidate will have strong structured cabling installation experience, excellent documentation skills, and a commitment to quality and reliability in a mission-critical environment. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the backbone of enterprise infrastructure operations!

Required Qualifications:

  • Around 5 years of hands-on experience in structured cabling installation
  • High School Diploma (required – must provide documentation)
  • BICSI Certification or equivalent experience preferred
  • Proficient with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets, and Google Docs
  • Proven experience working in enterprise data center environments
  • Strong documentation skills and familiarity with maintaining detailed records
  • Highly organized, dependable, and capable of installing and maintaining cabling with a focus on neatness and performance

Core Responsibilities (Training Provided):

  • Install structured cabling neatly and efficiently according to defined standards
  • Rack and cable IT and networking equipment based on provided rack layouts
  • Perform cross-connections across various devices
  • Install and configure data center infrastructure components including:
  • Cabinets
  • PDUs
  • Terminal Servers
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation including rack elevations, cabinet schematics, and photographic records
  • Escort and oversee third-party vendors (e.g., HPE, Dell, Cisco, Extreme) during hardware installations or maintenance
  • Receive and inventory new equipment; maintain asset accuracy
  • Maintain 24-7 access to the data center environment and carry a corporate-issued cell phone
  • Support scheduled maintenance windows during evenings, nights, or weekends as required
  • Comply with company code of conduct and operational standards
  • Utilize client-provided tools and resources including safety equipment, ladders, labels, and documentation templates

Work Environment & Conditions:

  • 100% onsite presence required (Dallas and Plano, TX locations)
  • This is a physically active role in a mission-critical data center environment
  • Must be able to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces
  • Flexibility for occasional overtime and off-hours maintenance windows is expected
